It was reported on Tuesday that 26 persons were injured in the attack and were taken to the Potiskum General Hospital but The principal of the attacked Government Senior Science Secondary School in Potiskum, Baba Sanda Mustapha, has said the death toll in Monday’s bomb attack has shot up to 35.

Twenty-five of the injured persons have been discharged. Just one is still in the hospital receiving treatment.
The father of the injured person still receiving treatment, Mr Ibrahim Gaba, commended the government and the hospital authority for the assistance they had received so far.
Another man, Mallam Ali, who lost his 17-year old son, Kassim, in the blast could not hide his feelings as he sob uncontrollably.
“I leave everything in the hands of God Almighty,” he said, condemning the attack carried out by a suicide bomber.
The school has become a deserted place, as shoes, bicycles, bags and other items belonging to the students was all that was left in the premises.
After the attack, the State government closed down schools indefinitely, explaining that it was a measure aimed at preventing any other planned attack. It said the schools would reopen when the adequate security could be guaranteed.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Boko Haram terrorist group is the prime suspect. The group had carried out similar bomb attacks in the north-east.
The group is seeking an Islamic State and an end to western education in the region.
