- The trial of 59 soldiers for criminal conspiracy to commit mutiny and for disobeying the order of their commanding officer in Maiduguri have begun in Abuja, Punch reports. A military court martial sitting in Abuja will try the soldiers for refusing to obey the orders of their commanding officer, Lt. Col. Timothy Opurum, of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, to engage some members of the Boko Haram sect in Maiduguri. Also read: 12 troops sentenced to death for mutiny 60 soldiers were initially scheduled to be tried before a General Court Martial by military authorities in Abuja, but one of the soldiers was said to be indisposed.
